Chesters is a grade I listed 17th century country house and estate, located on the banks of the River Teviot in the Scottish Borders. The estate includes 1,500 acres and 14 estate cottages, as well as a mile of the River Teviot. John Henderson inherited the house six years ago after the death of his grandfather. He and his wife Ellie would like to leave their city jobs in London and take up permanent residence at Chesters but cannot afford to.

Unfortunately for the couple their dreams are most likely going to turn into nightmares unless they buck their ideas up and come up with some decent money making schemes for the property. Currently they need £20,000 a year just to keep the lights on at the estate. But it needs several hundreds of thousands of pounds to pay for restoration of parts of the main house and the estate buildings. What are their ideas? A micro-brewery and and actors residential workshop business. Useless! As Ruth Watson tells them in no uncertain terms.
